Now you know why I don't post pics of deer any more. If it's a big buck, people will say one of three things. It's HF/penned so it doesn't "count" or even ought to be destroyed, it's photoshopped, or it's a nice buck. Usually one of the first two. Nice buck!

Where are yall getting all this hater stuff? The vast majority of the comments have been extremely positive. The others have a right to their opinion and it should be expected when that type of pic gets posted. In fact I didnt count but it seems there are more comments about the haters than there are comments. Hmmm.

May be a dumb question but here I go,
I understand what is meant by native genetics, but is it simply just throw up the fence and what deer are there is what you start working with? Or do you leave a section down and try to entice more on then put it up? Or maybe I'm way off in my thinking?

Sweet deer by the way. On this ranch we decided to just leave the natives untill they were atleast 5.5 yo. The fence insures all my protein is going to my deer and not my neighbors and my neighbors aren't going to shoot a young deer. One of my other places we fenced it in and brought new deer in. If I look back to when both ranches were 4 years fenced, they both were putting out great deer. It depends on what your looking for in the ranch really. Do you want 170-200 STx gened deer or do you want 130-160 native deer?

So is the buck pictured a product of just age and protein? Or is he a product of introduced genetics from another ranch in Texas, with age and protein?
