So as i am in the search for some new decoys i had a few questions. I hunt down outside of Hondo tx. I shoot mainly gadwalls with pintails, ringnecks, and widgeons. Do i need to buy one of those decoys or are mallards just as good? Is it worth buying expensive decoys so they last longer? Any suggestions on decoys would be great!
Thanks

With the exception of the Pintails, any decoy will draw in the other birds you are shooting.

The old Pin is a booshie duck and will circle you 100 times looking for their own.
If you want to make any decoy last longer with paint then dont put them in the traditional decoy bags,go with the bags we use for full body goose decoys. You can get 3dz. in one bag and you are not beating them up with decoy wieghts.

If you've got pintails already, adding some mallards would be fine for other species, although I like to mix it up some for my personal satisfaction.

What about the ducks satisfaction?

I like to use a lot of variety. I use 6-8 doz of everything even coots. I hunt a big lake. If u look out at the flocks on the water they all mixed up so I try to match what I'm seeing naturally. Not to mention it adds a lot more color than just a spread full of mallards, GWT, and gadwall.
