Again, being new to this forum and sport I am wanting to learn as much as possible. I have already learned a lot in the 2-3 hours I have joined this forum and from the few post I posted. Do a lot of people take into factor wind, smell, and so on when hunting? What is your favorite method to bring in deer when calling? Rattling, fawn calling, ETC.. Again, just wanting to learn.

Wind is the #1 thing I take into consideration before leaving camp. It can deterime where I hunt, what gun I use, how I approach a stand location, etc.
One tip I will give you that will keep you from buying all those wind checking products (most of those products are talc) is this...... On just about every corn bag you buy there will be those little strings you pull to open the bag. Take a couple of those strings and hang them up in your stand windows or if you are hunting on the ground tie them close by on some low hanging branches or brush. When I hang them in my stand I just use a push pin and then tie them to the push pin an allow them to hang down in front of the window. This will give you a visable meter showing you exactly what the wind is doing at all times.

Oh.....and my favorite way to attract/call deer is with corn and a corn feeder. The sound of a feeder going off works every time!

I agree with what JCB says about wind. Wind is critical, even with all of the scent blocker type stuff on the market today. Deer will alot of times even approach a feeder or food source depending on the wind.
As far as bringing in deer, it really depends on the doe to buck ratio. If there is an abundance of doe in your area, it is very difficult to rattle, bleat, etc a buck in. If the ratio is in line, you can rattle up bucks if the rut is going good. Wind is very very important in how you setup for this.

Subscribe to Deer and Deer Hunting magazine and you'll learn a lot about deer and deer behavior. Once you know what deer do and why, you'll be able to create your own hunting strategies.

Texas Dan: I will check that magazine out. Thank you for the tips also. I have only seen one buck on camera and about 3-4 doe with him. Now I am limited on resources in the area of I have one stand, and a very narrow place to hunt due to my brother leasing the land for cows. (They will be off next year and I am excited) So if you are limited to one stand/area how can you adjust due to wind? The direction in which you go to your stand? Not hunt the stand but stalk hunt?
