One of my lease members got a new digital remington feeder (BA products) from academy. It will go through a new 6volt alkaline battery about every 3 weeks. Is this normal?
Its set for 6 seconds AM/PM on high speed.

I have two of the dusk/dawn (BAproducts) feeders and they have been running near 4 months on the same battery.

I have 5 Remington feeders, all with solar panels, but I think it should definitely last for more than 3 weeks. I have not had any problems with mine at all. I would definitely call the company.

I have one also. I put a solar charger on it when I first put it out, and have never changed the battery. It's been running for about 9 months now. If it's a rechargable battery, was it fully charged on the first charge? If you didn't fully charge it the first time, the battery will develop a "memory" and never hold a charge long.

I would call BA Products. They just replaced a timer I had a problem with. They are based in the metroplex, and someone answered the phone immediately when I called.

Get a couple of rechargable 6 volt batteries(gell cells)and a cheap recharger and change em out every 3 weeks or sooner.Eventually it will be cheaper than buying the spring top throw aways.

thats not normal. Are you using the same type batteries? take it back to academy they are pretty good on honoring warranty.

Today I put a new battery in my buddys feeder. I noticed that he had the run time set for 9 seconds, not 6. I changed it to 5 seconds and set the motor speed to medium. I also moved the timer down about an 8th inch. should throw about the same amount of corn but use less power doing it.
only time will tell if the battery life is better.
Im pretty sure my bud is going solar for next year.
Thanks for everybodys input.

I know I am a little late but that seems to be allot of feeding I feed for 3 seconds morning and nite and it is just fine. I put in battery last January with solar panel and have not changed it out since and still running strong. My guess is that you did not charge battery before putting out there

If I put my wife in a high fence will her rack get bigger?

I've had an All Seasons feeder for three years and it's still going strong running solar. Anyways, three weeks is pretty sorry. Return it for another, set it for fewer seconds, and lower the spinner. You'll get the same results. Good Luck!

One issue...what brand alkaline battery are you using? The cheap ones will not last very long at all! You should replace it with a gel-cell rechargeable.

I've been running one Remington digital feeder for 3 years (bought before I came to Academy), and have replaced the gel-cell battery only once! I also have a new "quartz" model that I put in this year; and, it too is running on a gel-cell.

Try the rechargeable gel-cell battery (with a solar panel if possible) and see how your feeder responds to that!

BA Products is based in Kerrville, and have been very good about all warranty issues that I've heard about. Most of what I've seen so far...have been the consumer and not the product, but BA has responded each time!

The first two were eveready alkilines and this last one I put in for him was a duracell.
In my feeders I use the cheaper rayovac alkalines and they last 7/9 months!!

Feeding only muscle meat whether it is raw or cooked, but it will end up with a sickly looking dog. I think, it better to find from a this place at http://www.dogbedsandmore.com.
