Since the rattlesnake topic is hot, here is another good question. Can a rattler bite through a leather boot? ( while wearing snakeproof chaps, what kind of shoe does one need)
Dryberry was the last lake God created and it took the entire seventh day. Dryberry Lake Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Canada (a.k.a. Heaven)

Not to my knowledge. Leather is too dense a material for the fangs. Should be fine.

No I wouldn't thank so Ive known alot of cowboys/ranchhands that mess with snakes and they jusy wear tall leather boots, only problem with that for hunting is they do have any traction, not water proof and are noisy when climbing ladders. I'm not expert by any means, but the snake guys Ive met say that 99% of bites are between the ankle and knee with most being 3-4" off the ground. Thanks not saying one wont get you above the knee just the odds are less.

The ones I've run into tried to avoid any human contact. I worked at a kids camp for a while so if we saw one we typically killed them to try to minimize chances of kids running into them. All the other times though they tried to warn us or crawled away. Most snakes that I've seen would rather avoid a fight with a human they are looking for something their size to eat and don't want to bite, I know there are exceptions to the rule on that. Staying aware of your surroundings is key though. One of my good friends screamed so loud on day that it almost scared me he was right in front of me and almost stepped on a rattle snake. It was a good laugh and I don't think I've ever seen him jump so high to this day.

Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you.
you must realize that fear is not real, It is a product of thoughts you create. Do not misunderstand, danger is very real, but fear is our choice!
