My thoughts as well. I've never seen anything within 90 inches of that deer on my place and I'm just one county over.

Denton county has a ton of non typical genetics. I have seen it at my property which isnt very far from where this deer is killed. I heard from another sources that this deer and the deer that scroed 209 two years ago were shot on the same property...

I would like to know about this mercy killing thing... sounds entertaining.

Nope…..that isn’t right either.

FACTS:
Those deer were killed 2.7 miles as a skunk walks down yonder between Ed’s old pasture and O’l Roster Hollow. They started seeing them after Billy Joe cut a whole in the fence at the high fence place out yonder cattycorner to the road.

The deer was a pet. He played with the kids after school and it WAS a “mercy” shooting. The deer had chronic back and neck pain. After the deer got tangled up in the clothesline again and the guy had to use another 3 rolls of duct tape to repair it, he shot him out in the driveway.

That’s the real story and I’m not giving up the guys name either because I respect him and he told me not too.

I guess I'm confused too. Was it raised or was it a low fence deer?

"Mercy" killing is an interesting description.

This is really getting funny! But what ever the case, it is a cool looking deer and I don't know any hunter who wouldn't love to have that sucker on the wall. I would love to know how the heck you would score that thing though.

Been hunting in O'l Rosster Hollow for years and never seen a buck that was this impressive! I did however see a pic of the tightend Jeremy Shocky with a deer that looked just like this one just a year or 2 ago.

This is very weird!

If it was a "PET" then they should have kept it penned up. The deer was borderline tame but that does not make it someones pet. The guy was told if he sees a deer that is hurt he could shoot it. This deer was missing one of his pads so he walked with a limp....That is where the mercy killing came from. Why not be happy for the guy who just shot a buck of a lifetime? I know the guy that shot him and he's a great guy and he didn't poach him..... How come every big deer is poached until proven otherwise?

I have no reason to believe otherwise. Congrats to your friend I would love to see it.

It has been said this deer could not be scored for b&c. Do you know anything about that? If its all legit then it should be able to be entered if the hunter chooses to do so.

Congrats on a great deer. He is a stud none the less. The story you poste is similar to te one I was told. The guy had permission to hoot pigs or even a doe. Tr big deer jumped the fence and came in with a limp. The gentlemen shot it because the deer looked injured but all in all the deer always had a limp. All the neighbors had agreed to give this guy a pass because he was so tame. Deer got shot. Hell of a buck. Can't belekbe this thread is still going.

Again. Congrats to the hunter.

confused2 This thread has been entertaining to say the least, but why couldn't this deer be entered into the books? I understand not telling the "rest" of the story, but I would be curious to hear why that is at least.

Because most everyone on here aren't serious deer hunters and are on here more than they are in the woods. Yes i know im posting on here now but i've already shot 2 bucks. So dont even try to say anything about me being on here. Not every big deer in this world is high fenced. People that shoot deer like this put work into and deserve it. Leave the poor guy alone and be happy for him people. Yes his neighbor watched the deer for years.. But thats part of it. Its wildlife. He jumped the fence and this guy was sitting in the right spot. Any true hunter that hunts Denton County knows what is out in these woods, and what all you others say doesn't matter. Yes you can try to lease something up here but i can Guarantee you there are 25 locals on the waiting list ahead of you. So drop it, Everything about this deer is legal and ethical. So shut up
