my uncle is sitting in the stand texting me a question...
Buck has one side broken off, the other side is WAY legal....
legal or not?
tried looking on TPWD, could't find it

Would depend on where it is broken off at. If way down near base, shoot away. But why would you?

I would also say if the one is way inside the ear on the one side you might pass just to avoid an issue.

If there is a question about it being legal, I would tell him not to shoot it. It might be a really nice buck next year.

As long as there is only 1 point on the broke side and it does not have branching, it would be legal to take as the unbranched antler on one side.

What if the buck hasn't grown an antler on one side, only has half a rack? I can't seem to find any definitive answer in the book.

CJ If a buck only has one branched side and not an antler on the other side, it is an illegal buck since it does not meet either Antler Restriction.

We had one that was a 8 but both sides broke off right at the brow tine and from a distance it looked like a huge bodied spike. We let it walk though.
