I was able to get the whole family out for the first time this season and we were fortunate enough to have a little success after what was mostly a very slow 3 days of hunting. Seems deer must be locked up right now as movement was minimal to say the least. Although the deer weren't moving, I was able to take a nice turkey - 9in beard - with all 6 of the family in the blind to share the experience. Good stuff! On Sun. evening, our last hunt before returning home I was hunting with my oldest son (who was very discouraged about the slow hunting) but explained to him that if he wants a good buck he must better his odds by being in a blind and hunting hard more often - and that patience is the key. We hunt that evening together and nothing was moving, so I decided to work my grunt call/doe bleat hoping to creat some action. After what seemed like just a couple seconds of a few doe bleats and grunts, this guy steps out at about 400yds and starts working his way right toward us. I knew pretty quick that this would be a good shooter buck for him. This wasn't his first buck, but the buck fever was still in full swing - and the fact that this was his first time to lay down the youth .243 and take a deer with my 30-06 - which he has now proudly taken ownership of. Ha! The buck worked to within 80yds of us when I stopped him with a grunt and he was able to take the shot. One of my proudest hunting moments with him - even though I lost a rifle in the process. Now it's little brothers turn! Sorry to get a little long winded, but I know you guys like a story to go with the pics. Happy Hunting!

Thanks to all. We'll be back at it again over the next few days hoping to get the disgruntled little brother a chance at one. Ha!
