Got an emergency call from my son to hurry home, today. Apparently our two huge chocolate males, Commander and Bomber, each over 100 lbs, got into it. My son (who recently broke up a fight between their sire and our Anatolian) said he was afraid to get in between them. He said it looked like two grizzlies fighting. It looks like Commander lost. This is his face - he had some deep tissue wounds on his body. OUCH!!! Commander: The "Loser" Bomber: The "Winner" A year younger than Commander, Bomber has grown tremendously and surpassed all the other males in size. Bomber's face is clean. Cleaned & treated all wounds topically, then gave an antibiotic. Dogs. Never a dull moment. Kiddo recently moved to Colorado with the alpha male, Sergeant. This means the pack order is upset until they determine the new 'top dog.'

Nah. It's a chunk of his ear.
Actually, Bomber thinks he's getting a reward for winning, but it's an antibiotic tablet in a piece of cheese. Little does he know, the "loser" got the same thing! lol

Looks like Commander didn't take command of the situation and Bomber dive bombed him.
Lucy (our smallest vizsla) found a crawfish last week. The other two females thought if they ganged up on her they could have it for their own. The troublemakers were reprimanded and she got to keep her crawfish. This morning June caught a dove in the backyard. Not a single dog tried to take it from her, they know shes top dog here.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

Too funny, Kindall. Yeaaaahhh for June! We're having trauma since Kiddo moved to Colorado. There's not another set of eyes here when I'm on the road - which is a lot this time of year, between TPWD and duck hunting. My son's got his disabilities, so there's only so much I can expect of him. He just doesn't have the ability to recognize potential problems, so somehow, once again, two big boys managed to be in the same yard and I'm willing to bet, he fed them side-by-side. So, now I'm in the market for a kennel/ranch hand or trainer trainee.

Maybe your local high school/Ag Teacher could offer recruits?
Psalm 3:3 - But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.

Maybe your local high school/Ag Teacher could offer recruits? Yeah, I thought of that, but kids are in school all day with not much availability. There are a lot of people around here looking for any kind of work. I think I need someone more mature and responsible, not someone that needs even more of my time & supervision.

That is no fun. I guess there is no real way to ever keep that from happening if you have several dogs.

There is diesel, been doing it for years, but I have a son with certain disabilities who helps with the kennels. We always had his sister to help run things, but she wanted to try life in Colorado and recently left. So, when I'm gone, there is no one to oversee things, as of late. Been thru three nasty dog fights in the past few weeks with 5 injured dogs. My son just does not remember to take precautions and separate them when there are red flags, such as females in heat.

Entire cultures and religions ahave been developed around attempts to keep women's 'charms' from driving boys crazy, but no matter what caps they put on the 'femme fetale' - resistance is futile!

Man those are some big labs. My uncle had a black lab that wasn't quite as big (about 75lbs) that could hold his own. They lived in a valley, and they neighbors had a big german shepherd and a doberman. Well they both came over into HIS yard one day. Needless to say, they never came back. That dog was really sweet to people, and even to his "brothers" but man he wouldn't let another dog set foot on his land.
