Have a friend that fell on hard times and needed some money so I bought his 30-30. I don't know a whole lot about them and don't know what it's worth. It has a stainless steel reciever and and the old metal butt plates on it. I only give $100 for but can anyone give me some info on value or anything else about it? Thanks in advance of as any help!

Are you sure its SS? And are you positive its pre 64? From what i know the ONLY stainless steel 94's were speacial order.
Could it be that all the bluing is gone, and the metal is in the "white" stage?...Making it look like SS..

Doesn't appear to be rubbed off. No rust or any pits on receiver

Check the serial number. If it's a Winchester Model 94 and the serial number is below 2,700,000, then it's a pre 64.

You guys were ALOT of help. It is not a pre 64. It is a 1967 Winchester Model 94 30-30. I do believe the receiver has been polished. Was starting to think I really may have had something good. Still great for what I gave for it.
