I'm new to Mule deer hunting and was wondering if anybody has hunted Madador WMA and if its worth a 5 hour drive to get there or is there some place better in Texas to go? I plan on camping on site. Also what type of hunting is it,spot and stalk, glass and stalk, set up on water or food,or other? Thanks ahead of time for all the highly educated info I'm about to recieve.

Matador WMA Legal Game You can not deer hunt in Matador WMA unless you participated and were selected in the TPWD public hunt drawing.

To hunt deer (Mule Deer or Whitetail) there you have to get drawn. I would guess the APH and LPU permits are for birds only.

TPWD does public lottery drawings on their wma an state parks but its drawn by lottery so you have to put in for where you want to go an apply . once you are on their mailing list they send you a book every year about august 1 an it has the hunting places dates, all the info you need.you apply to what an where an if drawn pay a fee $70 or 130 depends on how long a hunt is an show up on that date...i drew madador last year an got a nice 10 pt mule deer but didnt get anything this year....oh well there is next year

One constant... This 4-M rocks.
