I can't decide if this should be here, or in the hunting equipment forum.

Either way, this is how to fix the LCD's, and if you don't want to do it yourself, send it to me and I'll attempt to fix it for you.

I'm sure it will work on just about any LCD though. It's a pretty universal fix.

First off, you're going to need some basic knowledge of how things work and fit together.

For this fix, you need a tiny phillips screwdriver(eyeglass size) and a small phillips screwdriver.

First up, take out the five screws that hold the camera assembly inside the case, flip it over, carefully.

There are two circuit boards, 4 screws on the top one and 5 screws on the bottom. They're attached with wires, so you just move them out of the way, they won't come off.

Then your down to the LCD itself. 4 tiny screws hold it in. Take those out and your left with just the LCD screen.

It has a small circuit board on the back, and the wire/band/strip that connects the board to the screen.

There's two-sided tape actually holding those together, very carefully, slide a sharp knife in between the two pieces lengthwise, heat it up with a hairdryer if you have to, but separate those two pieces and fold them down.

Now heat up the band with a hairdryer set on high, the screen will turn black, it's ok. Heat it up for about 3 minutes, then take a wood pencil with eraser and run it up, with a good amount of pressure, the strip a few times on the board and screen, then press it down on the screen itself and move it around.

What you're doing is heating up the glue that moultrie used and forcing the wires back to where they're supposed to go.

It won't work 100% of the time, but it will about 90% of the time.

And it may not bring it all the way back to 'like new' condition, but, if done properly, it should bring it back to readable condition and you won't have to buy the replacement screen.

If you have any questions, pm me, if you'd like me to do it for you and attempt to bring back your lcd, ship it to me and I'll do it for 10 bucks plus shipping.

Or I'll install the new LCD from Moultrie, if you order it, for the same 10 bucks.

Or if I get it here, and I can't bring back the old lcd and you choose to order the new one from Moultrie and ship it to me, I'll stick the new one in there for no additional charge.

I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.

It should work on just about any LCD, it just may be a different disassembly method.

They sent me a new LCD and I replaced the old one. Just had to call and give them the serial number.

Unless it's still under warranty, the new LCD is 14.99.

If you're into fixing stuff yourself, or if you're running a few of these cameras, it could save you some cash with the heat and treat method.

New developments, on the three that I worked on a few days ago.

I've let them set outside under my carport since I fixed them.

I turned them on yesterday to figure out how to program them and whatnot and on two of them, the LCD's were jacked up again.

So I pulled them back apart and repeated the process and couldn't get them to come back at all, not sure why yet.

If I learn anything new about why they wouldn't come back, I'll update the post.

How about I dig this thread out of the depths. I had a Moultrie i40 that has always had a jacked up LCD display. It finally blanked completely out this past season. Got to digging around and found this thread. Broke the camera down this evening and am happy to report that I regained about 80% of my display back. There's still one horizontal band that's out, but it's in the middle and allows me to read both lines of text. Thanks for the info possom! Saved me $20 and a lot of headache dealing with Moultrie on a replacement panel for now.
