guys,

Bear with me, i am wanting to get into night hog hunting as my little slice of land i hunt is over run with them and i think keeping the deer away.

I have looked at the above mentioned light and it seems to be a good one. Now for the rookie question, I dont need a nightvision scope to go along with this kill light do i>? just mount it on my nikon prostaff (30-06) and blast away? This light seems to be the most cost effective for a person looking to get started

They are a great light. You can mount it on your scope or on your rifle. I have mine on the gas block of my AR with an offset mount. I recommend using CRITR-GITR. The cost is the same and you will get excellent service: http://critr-gitr.com/ or call Randy & Alice at: 830-660-2841

I have used one of the Kill Lights from Elusive Wildlife before as well and I strongly recommend it. Great choice.

I have one also and have Nikon Prostaff scopes on two guns. Light works great. Shot at a hog at 75 yards. Could see them clear as day. Just missed, my fault. Shot several coons at 75 yards too. Works much better on dark nights. Full moon nights are harder to see through, but still totally adequate. Will shine deer/coyote eyes easily at 200 yards or more. Eyes are like a beacon with the light. Have had mine since april and love it. Basically your scope picture is a green tint. Think black and white movie, just a green tint instead of grey.

Mine was delilvered yesterday. The batteries didn't get charged
up until after midnight. I was like a little kid at Christmas.
I got up after midnight and checked the charger. Game on!
I took it in the backyard and was really surprised. I then shined
it down the road at some trees about 200 yards away. I think it
is going to work really well. The hogs no longer own the night.

Is it better to use green or red for hogs?

Green works effectivly to 250-350 yards. Had some buddies checking my light out and were shooting a target in that range with their rifles from the light on mine. Green is good for pigs. Red is more for predators, and does not have but about half the range. I bought the gun hunters package that has all three colors (green, red, white), and only use the green for hunting due to range...

I was suprised when i mounted mine on top of my gas block, not offset. I have high rings and a 50 mil objective, the light does not interfere at all. I can't see it in the scope, would have never guessed that it wouldn't be in the way.

I would go with green just for hogs. I use red because I hunt more predators than hogs and prefer the red. The red works very well out to 200 yards+. FYI-They have come out with an extension tube which will let you use two or three batteries instead of one. It dramitically extends your burn time and is BRIGHTER. I use one extra tube and two batteries. My partner use two tubes and three batteries.

BWK-My hunting partner shoots a high ring 50mm scope on his AR too. His is mounted just like yours and works great. I use lower rings and a 40MM scope. (He also misses up close because of the high rings-he will figure it out)

I use the high rings due to the 50 mil objective, other rings just don't cut it.

I shot this the other night at no more than 25 yards. Didn't turn on the light, just used the moon light. I might miss something inside of 10 yards, but when it runs from me i should get it with the remainder of the clip.

If i was just buying the xlr in one color it would be green. I would advise spending the little bit extra and getting all three colors though

He uses them for the same reason. He just hasn't figured out how to adjust his close shots yet......better for me!

Here is a shot of the XLR250 with the new extension tube. I took this right after I put it on during one of our hog hunts near Utopia. I then went out a popped a hog!

I don't need to read the second post. We are talking about the same light. It doesn't matter where anybody buys it if it is the same price. It is a good light regardless of where you buy it!

CRITR-GITR.COM is a dealer for Elusive Wildlife Technologies Kill Lights.

BWK-OUCH! Didn't mean to piss you off. My post was answering tth_40's question and not directed to you bud. I personally think customer service is important. I have dealt with EWT directly and with CG. I prefer CG and guess I am still entitled to an opinion.
