yes. Again, not pretty, but functional and likely accurate.

I am sorry, but if you even have to think about "being able to handle the recoil" than it OBVIOUSLY IS NOT the best all around rifle. The recoil is what can screw up your effort after getting up at 5.00 AM, freezing your butt in the 13F chill factor for 2 days and when the Big Daddy shows up you miss him! Than you drive home for 5 hours pissed of at your buddy that glorified a "new and improved round". I would stack up the .308 Win against it any time. And I bet the Mom and Pop store on the square in Brady or general store in Bronte will have your 168gr (you sighted for) on the shelf.
That my friend, is how you learn to play percentages....... elmer

I don't have to think about anything (that's for the recoil sensitive crowd) I've been shooting a 300 since I was 12-13. It's just a little recoil, unless you've had shoulder surgery or chest split open it's not going to kill you to squeeze the trigger.... I can't pick up my ammo at a mom & pop shop anyway for any of the rifles I'd be using in 13F temps grin

You right Rifleman. It does look like you really don't think much about anything. Maybe that .300 took a toll on you when you were only 12. Your daddy sure picked you a truly fitting caliber..... lol35

Open area; Winchester .270, Nikon/Leupold 4x12 scope

Deep woods; Marlin 30-30, Williams FP-336 peep sight.

In your back yard; Quick draw, .357 Ruger Vaquero Revolver 5.5" barrel.

Wife lost her credit card. Noticed the charges were less, so I didn't bother to report it.

My ex gfs also killed some of their first deer with it after shooting it at the range a few times, no complaints. I'd rather be able to pick up anything and be able to shoot it accurately than be scared. Guess that's why I have 5 rifles in the .300s now (woulda been 4, but wife hijacked one prompting an identical purchase) and wouldn't you know it, prepping for Colorado hunts she could hold that rifle @ under 1 MOA at 500yds as a woman shooting the dreaded shoulder stomper. rofl

"Under 1 MOA at 500 yards". So you married an ironworker? I imagine you have a 500 yard shooting range in your backyard.

From your posting history I think you would recommend that for even squirrel hunting.

roflmao

No doubt it's a great long-range cartridge and good for big game.

I'll drink to that!!
Just imagine to have a guy like that to buy a spot on your 300 acre lease! Scarry thought, huh?

800yd actually.... with the option of loading the bench up and moving for longer.

Good equipment makes things easy and the only crap on my boots is from walking through cow patures & got some from a cpl elk I field dressed a cpl weeks ago.

I've liked my .30-06 for more years than I can remember, it just works on everything I've shot at here in Texas. Playing around with the .270 Win. now..and I'm liking it a lot too. Can also say the same for 7mm-08, 8mm Mauser ( I REALLY like that one) and .308 Win.

Any of you guys know anything about Mossberg rifles? I'm about to get a maverick .270 and was wondering if any of you had any experience with them. Academy has it on clearance for $199 without optics.
