I would probably opt for the 25-06 since the 270 is so close in performance to the 7mm-08

I have a Tikka T3 25.06 and love it. Never had a problem with stopping anything. But I do miss my .270 --- tough call.

I've had both for years and I very seldom hunt anything with my 270. Everytime I go WT hunting I'll grab my old 25-06, just my prefrence. Good Luck with your choice. Baker

.25-06 You got the .300 if you need to go bigger. I have 2 .25-06s and love them both.

I like the 25-06 because I can buy a round for varmints and then a heavier round for a lot bigger game.

For Texas hunting: 25/06. The 120gr 25/06 does anything the 130gr 270 does with less recoil.

270 is a great round just not for me

They are so similar that there's essentially no difference. There's a slight ballistic edge going to the .270 but that's just on paper. In the real world it doesn't make a noticable difference.
I've had both and loved both. I currently use a .270 for most of my hunting.

I have both calibers and love them both, but since you already have a 300wsm get the 25-06.

I've loaded and owned or worked on and tuned both. My buddy Paige in Pleasanton got a Sendero 25 06 last yr. I loaded 100 Barnes X bullets for him w/RL 22. He gets about 1 in grp at 300 yds. Until last yr. he really would shoot over 85 to 100yds.
I also have owned a 270 very accurate, used to cull shoot w/100 grain varmit bullets....cows in the pasture..They shoot factory loads more accurately usually....Either rifle I'd get one with a 26in bbl....DD
