Just bag limits not this AR crap. They are still telling you what to shoot. This is no different than any other regulation. I find it funny that people say what you said, but are fine with season being set, limits being set, doe days, killing certain ducks, squirrel season and so on. There are so many regulations out there, this is just one more.

I find it funny that people like you want to pick apart peoples comments. If you like being dictated good for you. Make sure to run and vote for the same idiots we have now and before long we won't have any guns or hunting rights anyway.

I think its bad that the government can tell us what we can shoot and what we can't. People need to stand up and take our dang freedom back. Who knows what's next. No telling how many bucks get left in the woods because they were shot and didn't measure 13 in. A trophy buck don't have to be huge to be a trophy to a kid that hasn't ever shot a buck. Sad sad sad that we set back and let the government dictate to us what deer we can shoot. AR's were implemented because the majority of hunters wanted them. It forces meat hunters to be true meat hunters and not only want the meat when there is a set of antlers attached. All the kids in my extended family love them - the kids now have a guarenteed chance every year on my ranch to take a buck that is decent and before AR's you had a once in 5 year chance. When I was hunting as a kid all I ever saw was spikes and little forked horns - wished AR's were implemented back then. Regarding all the quotes about wanting nothing but trophies - I have no idea where you get this notion. All I have ever wanted to see were mature bucks on a consistent basis, ie, something that will go in the 115 range and at least see their third birthday. Due to AR's I now have this on my ranch. In addition, I now see mature bucks square off during the rut and fight for extended periods - it is an incredible site. Again, prior to AR's this would never happen as all that was left running around were 1.5 and sometimes 2.5 year old deer. My experience with AR's is 100% positive.

The way I look at it is if somebody wants to shoot a small buck then why should it be anybody else's business. I call bs on a kid being thrilled that they have to pass on a buck because it doesn't meet what the government states is a trophy.

Unfortunately, people aren't smart enough to not be regulated when it comes to hunting. Look what happened to the bison and what nearly happened to the rest of the big game animals in the country. We definitely don't need that again.

Bag limits and seasons are fine but telling us we can't shoot a certain buck because he isn't wide enough is crap.

Because they know they can pass on a little 90 pound fork horn and most likely will have a shot a bigger buck that is over 13 inches within the same hunt. And when did a 13 inch buck become a trophy?

Relax, just trying to point out that you are told what to shoot Ar's or no AR's. And by the way I will have gun and hunting rights till the day I die, no matter what law they pass.

So a 12 in wide 24 in tall ten point that is 7 years isn't a trophy? If you tell me that them bucks arnt out there you need to get out of Dallas and get somewhere that has more than black tops and malls.

I have never seen a mature deer on my place that would not make AR's. Sure there are some 1 and 2 year olds that don't make it, but not a 4+ year old. At least not in the 5 years I have been there, or the 100+ gig of game cam pictures I have.

I am on my ranch at a minimum of 3 days/nights a week - so yes, I have a pretty good idea what is on my place. And no, I have never seen what you described on my ranch. My comment was around you mentioned the government has set a "trophy" limit of 13" - not following you here.

Me or you - I love AR's. Manage my ranch better? Really?? I can assure you my restrictions are much greater than 13" and have been for a very long time. I can't control what my lease neighbors do. Yes, high fencing my place was next on the list before AR's.

if you took reading comprehension in school you would have recognized that "should have" put that comment in the past tense. You were complaining about small deer until AR's. the whining and complaining that people wont conform to their ideals is what got the ar's in the first place. "i want big deer on my place, but everyone around me wants to eat deer and shoot their limit that the state says is fine, so i think the state should screw the other people and make it the way i want.". thats the complaining i was talking about.

If all mature deer turned out to be trophy's, there wont be such a thing as trophy's anymore. A mature whitetail in Texas scores about 131" on average. That is a trophy to some people and a cull to others. Trophy is in the eye of the beholder.

you are exactly right. the people that worked for trophy deer got trophy deer. the people that wanted them without working for them got the state to fix it where they could eaisly get one.

Everybody has their own way of doing things I guess. In my opinion its crap that we are governed so tight that we have to basically measure a dang buck before we shoot it. You don't always have time to.study a deer before you shoot. Just let folks have the freedom to decide what buck they want. In my opinion its just another reason for a gw to write tickets. Oh well who am I to judge others?

Jim Davis you are a smart man. There are a lot of narrow tall bucks that are nice deer. My bro in law passed on a ten point that was tall but not 13 inches and it would of been his best. Not his widest but his best.

Yes, I understand what past tense means I have had restrictions in place on my ranch LONG before AR's were implemented. You might want to read my post again as it appears you did not comprehend what I typed. Trigger happy neighbers on a low fence property will negate any and all hard work. Again, please tell me how I am whinning and complaining - I am just stating a fact. You are the one crying over the state telling you what you can and cannot shoot. BTW - if you want to compare educations we can and I promise you will lose.
