Ive already ripped 3 pairs of pants and Ive only been in trashghanistan a month Had to catch a ride with some Afghan army soldiers to go blow an IED they found.
I think we may have ripped our pants while we took a knee on a dismount mission. LOL
Me with my fake handle bar mustache. You gotta have some fun out here right?
This is what was left of the rim on my truck after I was hit by an IED. We found this piece almost 300 yards from where i got hit.

Great pictures. Cant thank yall enough for the job yall are doing over there. I explain to my kids every chance i get how yall are heroes to me and how much we need to appreciate yall for doing so much for us and asking for nothing in return. I will never forget that, and do my best to be sure they never do either. Stay safe and get home soon.

I cannot believe I've not noticed this thread before. I want so much to thank all of you have have served, from the bottom of my heart - THANK YOU!
I called my Mom on 9/11. I wanted to join right then. But at the time I was outside the age limit (38). Also she reminded me I had a family to support and a 2nd son on the way. I told my mom that things had changed and we were going to be into this for a long time. She didn't think so.
Ten years later my family members have served 6 tours:
My younger brother a Texas Army National Gaurd Combat Engineer was the Company Commander of Alpha Company 386th EN BN at FOB Caldwell Iraq (2004-2005) - he brought his entire company home safe, my nephew Tennesee Army National Guard - 3 tours doing convoy duty in Iraq, and my cousin did 2 tours in Iraq with the Marines (loaded ordnance on F/18s). While I may not have served, my family has and continues to do so.
I think my Mom knows now what I meant 10 years ago, especially with my oldest son now 17 and thinking of following his Uncle into the Army.

Son-in-law is stationed at Miramar, left for 2 weeks training in Az. yesterday and then a year in Afghanistan. MO is transportation. Will pick up Staff while he's there.
