For the last couple of weekends, we went from seeing dozens of deer each time we went to the stand, to maybe 2-3 does. Is it the weird weather or the fact that there are new hunters right next door to us all over our fence line. We are pretty much trying to mange the deer on our place. Next door sounds like a gun range. I think they are shooting anything they see. Any ideas or theories?

I'd say it's a combination of weird weather/rut.

I am thinking that it is a combitnation of both as well with a little bit of the firing range mixed in. Hope the hunting gets better for you.

this weekend was slow for me in the hill country as well, this morning a 10pt was just taken, so it's back on with this cold snap.

Been slow for me as well for about 3 weeks, but right before the front Saturday I saw two and took the last one(Old 8 pointer with a broken tine). The cold front should push a few to move.

i hunt in Lampasas County around Lometa.
some of the guys on my lease that have been on there for 30+ years say we dont have as many does as we did 30 years ago (around 30 does) i tell them we have plenty of does (i go to the blind and may see 13 deer and 10 being does).
i ask them and how many good big buck did you kill 30 years ago. they would say well there are some pics of them right there. all i see is a bunch of small young 8's.
i say and what kind of bucks are we killing now.
i say 8's, 9's that are 4.5-5.5 and 18" wide and 10"-11" G2's.
my answer is we may not have as many deer but they are better.

now to answer your question you still have the doe they are there but with the strange weather they may not be coming to the corn during the day.

we have had the same problem in Mills County the last 2 weekends. But the fog was so bad during the mornings this weekend that we could not see very far at all either. I guess they could of came in and left while the fog was there...

Been slow at our place also. Just got back a few hours ago. Didn't see much. I think the deer might be on to us by now and are feeding at night.

The season has been strange, started OK went to seeing very little to back to seeing alot. I hunt north of Brady and the season has turned around. The last 2 weeks 2 ten points, 1 nine point and a nice eight. Still a strange rut not sure what happened, Might not of been holding my mouth right.

I am about 200 yards from the fence line, but I can see there feeder from mine, i had mine up there first. I dont think the guys next too us have much land to hunt so I aam not mad, just wondering if it is the increased pressure of this weird weather? I think it is the weather doing us bad.

Concho County was about the same. I usually have deer come up to the house and wait for me to pour out some corn when I get there. No deer at all Friday night. None Saturday morning or evening. Finally, on Sunday morning a yearling and then a doe came in to the feeder in front of the house. That is all I saw.

I didn't hunt. My dad was in one blind, my nephew in the other, so I just enjoyed my time in God's country. Wow! It's so beautiful. And I'm so blessed to be able to take my 89 year old dad hunting with my nephew. Life is good. Quality life is better.

Mason County last few weeks - very slow. Bucks are better when you see them and unfortunately so are the hogs.

I'm in western Blanco County and right after Thanksgiving, things really slowed down. That was the last time I was out there, but we were seeing deer just about every time we were in a stand and the reports from the guys that have been back out are that it has been real slow and there are not even many photos on game cameras. I'll be checking it out this weekend and am hoping this cold front will help out.
