Was curious if anyone has anything good to report. I have seen tons of does. No bucks or spikes to speak of though. Hunting between Crossroads and Athens, TX.

I'm not too far away by Lake Limestone. We saw does moving around and my bud got a spike on opening morning. We saw an 8 and a 4 point moving around some too. The does were not in estrus yet. Probably will be better next weekend and the next shot of cold air. Did you see any ducks? We had lots of wood ducks until this weekend, lol.

I hunt by lake Palestine. I saw two mature bucks chasing does. a six point being avoided by the does and about seven does over the weekend. one large hog I knocked down only to have it leave the county. I feel my lack of filling a tag was due to the Antler restrictions. One of the bucks was very tall heavy beams, but I was not sure he was 13 inches inside. I couldn't get a look at him from the right angle. He stopped at about 130 yards and profiled. I probably could have made the shot with a bunch of moving to get a rest for the gun. Alas,, I feared "what if he isn't wide enough"
