Im 25 and am blessed beyond words about having a place to hunt so close and its abundance in wild life. I hunt family land and am a first generation hunter. My dad doesnt hunt, my grand parents dont hunt but I am addicted to hunting and fishing. Growing up it was my escape and way of staying out of trouble. I wouldnt go out and party and get in trouble because I wanted to be in the tree stand the next morning at 5 A.M. Ive had some amazing expereinces both with hunting and fishing and have gotten to kind of manage my land and grow some great bucks over the years.

Well I was talking to my neighbor earlier and his 11 year old asked why i was dressed in camo and I explained to him I went hunting this morning. Well turns out he is obsessed with hunting and fishing. He has never got to go hunting but his dad says he wakes up early on saturdays and sundays to watch hunting shows. He even reads magazines and books on it. THey dont have a property and the dad has never hunted in his life.

Well turns out I got the "go ahead" to take this kid out this weekend. Im gonna go sight in my 243 sometime this week and try to get the kid a turkey, pig or deer. I am super pumped about lighting a fire in a younger generation. This will be my first opportunity to introduce someone to the great outdoors. I'll have a report and pics and hopefully we can get it done. Im randomly really excited to share the wealth and teach the kid some lessons on the outdoors that will hopefully overlay in life. Just wanted to share. Sorry for the long post.

That's awsome! My 13 yr old niece sits with me whenever she can (unfortunately her dad won't let her hunt I don't know why). Last Sat we sat next to a draw and had 4 does less than 30 yards and she was more still than I was. She has so much desire to be in the field and it's just an awsome feeling that she gets the same thrill as I do from watching the deer.

That's awesome!! Kind of made me sad though when I read he got up on Saturday and Sunday to watch hunting shows. I wish every kid could have the opportunity to hunt if they want, I'm almost positive this world would be a different place!

Awesome thing you are doing! Teach him about the hunt and the rest will fall into to place.

That is a good thing you are doing. It is something you and him will never forget.

You're setting a great example that will last that kid a lifetime.

I took my 2 grandson's to Hunters Ed this year & got them licensed. On their first dove hunt, both got birds.

I'm taking them deer hunting next weekend & I don't know which of us is most excited.

Keep up the good work. It will go far.

Way to go ClearCreekDC...it doesn't get any better than takin' a kid hunting. Every year we take a group of 8-10 kids from the inner city of Houston out to a friends ranch near Fredricksburg...each kid has a sponsor and they each get to shoot a doe. That, along with my own kids hunting, is a true highlight. Keep it up!!!! You're making a difference in his life.

Great stuff ClearCreek. Invite the Dad hunting and you may just secure that young man some hunting for the rest of his life. I find myself taking lots of folks my age out with me that never got the chance as kids and teaching them what it really means to hunt and not just go out and kill something. I think it's harder to teach a 25-30 year old than it is to teach a 12 year old. Keep it up and good luck to the young man.
