Hunting a tiny (80ftX30ft) Ogallala-fed pond in the middle of some shinnery dunes that has some decent food in it and within a mile of it, but it is out west of Lubbock/Morton near the NM border. I'm more familiar with North Texas/DFW migrants, so what would you stick in a tiny pond in out in the west texas boonies? Mallards...? Any advice on mini-spreads would be great.

Mix in a few pintail drakes. It will add realism to your West Texas spread.

Alright, thanks. Guess I should get a better idea of what's out there in the next few weeks when I can go scout it. Know it has a few mallards (flsuhed one in the shinnery rabbit hunting, now THAT was weird...)

If its that small....I wouldn't worry about any decoys. Go down to the pond and sit on it. You can kill them no matter where they try to land on that small of water.
If you must have decoys...throw out about 3 decoys of any kind.
