It was the second deer of the morning. First was a big 8pt. My boy wanted to take it but there just wasn't enough good light yet for me to give him the green light. Once there was enough light and I gave him the signal when some doves flushed and spooked it. My boy was pretty disappointed but not five minutes later this young 10pt came in and the sucker I am couldn't tell him no. It was a 65yrd shot using remington core lokts. He nailed him in the heart so it was a short tracking job. Found the bullet in 3 pieces in the skin of the opposite side of the shot. This is the first one he didn't get a pass through on but it didn't matter. Will try to post pics of bullet later.

First, great buck young man!! Congrats!! Secondly, yes you can kill deer with a 22-250. I have used mine for whitetail the last 10 years and I have had zero lost deer. In fact the farthest any deer has run is 40 yards. I have even used mine to kill a mule deer. Just make sure you practice enough before the season so you are confident and proficient enough to take a good shot. Anyone can wound and lose a deer with ANY caliber of rifle. I use a Savage model 112 with the Accutrigger, a Bushnell Legend 3-15X mil dot scope, and use 55 grain Federal powershock ammunition. I used 60 grain Nosler partions on the mule deer hunt.
