It may pay to chain it to the ground so the deer doesn't run off after its shot.

Really? Your right, most can't afford something like that..... but read the whole thread and you'll have the reason for why they wouldn't- and that has nothing to do with money!

I made the first statement because i have no use for a buck like that breeding on my place.
Why not? Just curious. Has nothing to do with money. If money was no object I would hunt in mexico, british columbia, africa and for whitetail I would grow my own on my own place.
So what would you "grow" on your place, big 8's?

Very impressive deer and Congrats to the hunter and the ranch I left that part out, very impressive. Funny too that everybody bashes the people that post pics when it's usually the ranch that posts them up. I'd be proud too if our place produced a deer anywhere near that caliber.

So what would you "grow" on your place, big 8's? Because I don't find the white horned, triple beam w/ trash all over every point buck genes attractive. if i wanted to shoot one of those i would go north and find one. I much prefer the look of a native south texas deer. No, although there would always be big 8's, We've killed big tens, and had a few 12's killed. I much prefer to max out my native herd before i introduce genetics. there is a time and place to introduce outside deer, we are at that point now, but we are being extreemly selective about what line we get it out of

Seems like most guys on here bash these threads. Yet, if those same hunters were paying customers on your places you would be pretty happy to take their money.
We have enough problems fighting the anti-hunters as it is. Stop giving them fuel.
Nice deer and congrats.

Im not against feeding deer and im not agains hi-fences and mangagement, but when they ram the stick up the deers but like my dog when I take it to the vet to check for worms, and get in the cage and help him put it in a doe i think thats going a little to far.
Sure they are huge deer, and yeah if I saw something like it walk out infront of me I would shoot it in a heartbeat. I have just as much like for the trash as I do the symetry, just not into the science project that the deer industry is turning toward.

If I see a deer like that on my low fence property, I'd shoot him. If I had the money and was on a high fence place...not a chance...

I can only assume that those who think the bucks are would let them walk rather than kill something so hideous. I would shoot it but I wouldn't take my picture with it and display it as some monumental achievement. I certainly wouldn't attempt to brag about it.
Clearly God condones shooting stuff in the face or He wouldn't have created that...

"imo, shooting a pen raised deer and bragging about it is the equivlent of going to a brothel, paying top dollar for the hottest girl then bragging to everyone about how much of a stud you are."
That is classic stuff right there!

The only high fence deer that impress me anymore are giant, and I mean 190+ typicals and giant 160+ 8 points.
Big high fence non typicals are everywhere these days. I think you could literally compare them to a 140" free range deer. Especially on places where outside genetics are brought in.
People can spend their money however they want. I don't blame guys for high fencing their land. People like to shoot big deer and the big deer make more money than small ones. It is easier to grow a big deer behind a high fence.
These genetically engineered pen freaks are neat to look at, nothing more.

Those deer are like Ron White's dog slugo, when the hunter walked up they got excited thinking they were gonna wacked off again. They get fed live in a pen and donate to the sperm bank, thats it.

"my neighbor has a bunch of 200 class breeder pen bucks running around on his ranch. if one jumps the fence into my place i'd shoot it just to keep from breeding."
"i'm a trophy hunter. I love to hunt big deer in south texas under a high fence."
I consider myself to be a "hunter" but I would hate to be lumped in with a group that embraces the first statement.
I made the first statement because i have no use for a buck like that breeding on my place. Has nothing to do with money. If money was no object I would hunt in mexico, british columbia, africa and for whitetail I would grow my own on my own place. If I were to buy a hunt I would do it on the chapparosa, the high lonesome, the charco marano or a slew of other ranches. Shooting a deer that was raised in a pen then turned out to be shot dosen't do it for me. has nothing to do with money. hell, with what we spend in protein we could shoot one of these deer every year. I guess I wasn't clear with the point I was attempting to make. Your posts indicate that white-horned, trash covered antlers aren't for you. But you'd shoot one just to keep it from breeding with your deer. One can only assume that since you don't like those bucks and you would shoot one just for being what he is...you would shoot it and leave it lying in the grass. I don't see any other way to interpret your comments. If you shoot him because you hate him, why would you keep the deer? Then you call yourself a trophy hunter. It's not the word "trophy" that I call into question. It's the word "hunter". My comment was that as a self-described hunter, I would hate for people to think that was the mold I was cast from.
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent.
