Just a thought here, but why not donate a kill to the family of a soldier that is presently deployed who would normally get to hunt and put food on his table for his family ? I would be willing to do this within reasonable distance from my lease or home. I was in the Navy from 1982 -1985 and remember missing the season to hunt and what the extra meat meant to my family when I was there to hunt. What is your' opinion and would you participate ?

I'd be more than happy too. How would it be or get organized?

Lets do some pokin around here. Maybe Orn or one of the other Mods. can set up a thread here, preferably closed thread, that we can hook up with these families on and list our name and phone and city on so it will be easy for them to find someone close to them. I would like to see THF have quarterly or every other month dinner nights or meet-ups in different areas so we can get together and socialize in person. I used to do this with another web-site and it was great fun.

The main challenge is cost. Find some processors that would be willing to help eat the cost, you'd certainly have a better chance.

Cost is surely a consideration yet we pay $30 - $40 for processing for Hunters for the Hungry, why not this if needed. But we could def. check into it. Anyone with a knive and a food saver can process the meat into steaks. As far as if they want deer or hog meat, we should be the list and if they want the meat, we supply it for them. That way we dont give meat away just to have it freezer burn.

Just got two doe processed only sausage and steaks in this order but is ready for pick up this weekend! If any of yall know of any families that would be appreciative of the meat let me know they are welcome to it! The sacrifice their loved ones make is work the money for me to have it processed! Shoot me a pm if this works or if any of yall know any that would want it. My family has plenty of beef, venison is just somethin I enjoy and keep in my freezer in college but I know the joy of going to the freezer and sure will donate some to any military type family!

It would have to be a family that the spouse that is home is willing to cook and eat the deer meat. My wife won't cook it.

I would be willing to donate some or all of my deer.
