Last Wednesday I headed down to Sanderson, Tx to hunt with muliemike for some archery Muledeer. Wednesday night and Thursday mornings hunt turned out to be uneventful. Even tried a few failed spot and stalk attempts. If I only knew what Thursday night had instore for me. It was the most intense hunt I have ever had. Having multiple deer around a open top blind with large windows and most of those deer traveling from downwind picking a my opportunity to draw was near impossible. Luckily I was able to draw undetected and harvest the doe. ( This was absolutely the worst shot I have ever made on a deer. She was 17 yards away. Fortunately it was a fatal shot and only a short recovery was required.) Shortly after arrowing the doe the buck led by a fork horn with velvet dangling from his horns made his way down the hill toward the feed. Ranging him (25 yards) I decided to take a chance and waited for my opptunity. As I draw the buck spooked ran to my right and stopped at 40 yards. Still drawn I swiveled in my seat guessed the new distance and released the arrow. A perfect 12 ring shot. The buck ran 20 yards and expired. I want to thank Mike for a good time and a successful hunt. He has the game and plenty of places to hunt for them. Mike I hope I did the story justice. You could probably tell it better since you had a birds eye view.
