Is wrong to pay for hog hunts in Texas? I read every now and then on here people complaining about it. I live in PA. I would love to have the oppurtunity to shoot some wild hogs. I drove to a hunting preserve 3 hrs. away from my house. Waled into the preserve and the guide said, There you go, three of the largest pigs I have. I said you have got to be kidding me. Three hours for a 5 minute hunt? I walked him for 4 hrs. I just don't want to get ripped off. I would love to help someone out and get a little sausage and a european mount. Am I asking too much? Please advise. Thanks.

When I factor in the plane ride airport pickup,etc.,etc.,. I have a hard time factoring in paying for something that is wild. But, I guess its better than paying $600-$800 for something that would eat corn out of my hand. They do eat good though.

Look at it as paying to experiance the outdoors and a truley wild hunt in another state. Don't look at it as paying for a kill. That's just a bonus.

Sounds good. Booked a Bear hunt for my wife in Maine. Found out when we got there that the owner was fired from another outfit. Needless to say the hunt was a bunch acrap. Wanted to book her with my guide but he had nbo set up for women. She quit hunting after that. Hurt me real bad. Hard to trust somone again. I will try though.

From what I've seen jb here most of the outfitters are stand up guys. Just do your research.

You have had a lot of guys give you good places to go hog hunting down here. Yes, you are gonna have to pay, since there is little public land to hunt you will pay to shoot pigs! You can go to all sorts of places from low fence like with Austen and Trent at Boars and More outfitters to high fence places like DB Hunting Ranch. You have many more options than just these two. There are some public land places, but you gotta buy your hunting license, public land permit and then go find them. Can be done, but a lot more work that going to somebody's place that is already doing baiting, etc for you since you may not be coming down for a long time.

Mr Gordan,
Are you saying I should not pay for hunting hogs? Or are you saying I should ask around for places that need help with a hog problem? I am retired miolitary. raised up right and respect people and their land. I hunt a lot of farms here in PA. Always close a locked gate and leave open the ones I find that way. Would love to get some hogs dead on the ground.
