I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on finding deer on new land. Work has got me in Tennessee right now and i have a landowner that knows nothing about deer but has 200 acres that I can hunt on. I am pretty new to deer hunting. I have been a duck hunter most of my life. I'm not sure where to look or what to look for. bow season has been underway for 3 weeks here. PS. we just had our first set of temps below freezing if that makes any difference. Thanks

Look for game trails, tracks and fresh scat.

Go to a MAPSCO store and get TOPO maps for the area you are going to hunt. Look at altitudes, corridors, fencelines, funnels. By the time you actually get your' feet on the land, you should have some ideas of where to hunt.

any livestock on the place? If not, it'll make it a bit easier to find legit game trails. If there are cows or sheep or whatnot, tracks and fresh scat will be the give-aways. Easiest way would be to simply drive the roads looking for deer tracks crossing or going along the roads. Follow them and see where they going to/coming from or if the intersect with any other tracks. Look for brush lines near open spots and follow brush lines looking for traisl w/tracks and scat. If you find something interesting, I like to dump and entire bag of corn there, put up a camera and review pics before deciding if I want to go through the hassle of settin up a feeder in that spot.
Also, simply scout the place. If there's high ground where you can scan/class allot of the place, get there early one morning and simply glass the place lookin and where deer are moving to and from.
G'luck. Scouting and figuring the land out is one of my favorite parts of hunting. More fun than the actual hunt IMO.
