If you want pasture full of more that look just like him keep him. If it were me he would not have seen this season. From what I see you have to many other very nice bucks to keep a deer like this one another year.

One more year. He can't do too much damage to the herd in a year you do this and eventually you screwed.......compromise or laziness is a receipt for failure

One more year. He can't do too much damage to the herd in a year you do this and eventually you screwed.......compromise or laziness is a receipt for failure Trying to change genetics on LF is impossible via culling...and is just a poor attempt to justify killing young deer. To each there own.. if you don't want to feed him cool, but your not changing genetics of your herd, your just controlling numbers

Bobo, he sure looks like it but not sure. let me see if i can find another picture of him and post. I don't think he is one eyed though. He has an awesome good side...bad side is probably injury related...may be some thing to think over... He looks 5.5 plus...if you have a good track record on him and it is injury related, and he hasnt come out of it in last two years... That would be the one I was after...by no means is he a cull... He probably has best genetics out off your pics...but he is also the only mature 5.5 deer you posted. Either way both are great deer for a kid to take. This just an IMO...

I would shoot loppy (the non-symmetric one) and let that 8-point without the brow tines go another couple of years, just to see how wide his frame can get.
I like symmetrical deer though, and don't get hung up on high score or # of points. For me it is how beautiful the animal is, not how trashy his rack is.
I understand the whole genetics deal, and taking out the average to below average deer, but IMO stubby brow tines are not cull-worthy when his rack is that wide and looks symmetrical.
FYI - I am just speaking from what I like, not based on any knowledge whatsoever.

You disappoint me sometimes BOBO You would of shot this deer too... Due to one brow and weak g2's...at 6.5 his g2's jumped to 8" and his missing brow went to 3.5 " and good went to 5". Some people have more patience then others... Some have the resources genetics and time to afford to take only their top 10% to 6.5 plus As I said I liked his frame.. but if it was me the only deer I would target would be the injured if he was fully mature..

Our problem is this...we have 8 guys on the lease, 3 of whom hunt religiously...the others go maybe 3 times a year. We need two more people to fill the lease, and can't get anyone to commit. We have a great place, with good genetics, we just can't kill all the deer we need to kill. Plus, those that go have cameras, those that don't, don't. Costs of fuel, feed, etc are higher than normal or I would have a game camera everywhere and have a guest out every weekend. Where is your lease and how much?

I wouldn't be asking for advise on here. Do you want him? If so, take him out! If not let him walk. Pretty simple really.

If I got a shot at the others I would not take him. If it's late in the year I would take him out.

From what I see you have to many other very nice bucks to keep a deer like this one another year. . Yelp he is going to bred 25 does this year That depends on the the buck to doe ratio and what the age structure is also. But his mother is probably still out there, his sisters are probably still out there, and he has been breeding for a while so are his fawns . So if you want more just like him keep him one more and see what he turns into. He is eating feed that the better deer in those pics could be eating. New fawns are coming into the herd this year and something has to be taken out if the ranch is at carrying capacity already. IMO that is what I would do.
