Wondering if anyone had any luck on public lands... or even seeing anything ?
I've been out three days and have seen 6 does...well 4 does and 2 fawns. I am seeing a fair amount of sign though and think I've seen evidence of at least two bucks in the area, but I sure they only coming out during the night. But its still been good times !! Hope to get close enough for shot before month is over haha!!

Shot a doe last wed's evening on public land. Morning's are best right now and stay in the stand till dang near noon atleast. Seein' 20-30 deer a set just no shooter buck's yet. Had some on camera a month - two month's ago and they have vanished.

Sounds like you need to study up on your Outdoor Annual. County regulations apply, and then there could also be stricter regulations on particular tract you are hunting.

Opening weekend I shot a doe, my brother-in-law shot a doe, but we never found her, and the third guy we were hunting with shot and missed. I saw deer all three days. All does and fawns. We were happy that all of us had deer close enough to sling an arrow.
The GW told us where the bucks were hanging out, but we had the does patterned by that point in the weekend and just wanted to get some meat in the freezer.
I am a proud United States Air Force NCO and I thank all of you for your support!!!

I've taken 2 does and my spike so far. I have 3 shooter bucks coming in my area at night. few pics of them in the day. they are all the typical public land deer. little mass and width. I've passed two of then up twice so far because I want the older 6 point coming in. 17" wide roughly

You also need to make sure the WMA you're planning on hunting has a general gun season.

you can look at the Texas parks and wildlife website at public maps and areas. I would recommend looking before buying. main reason I get my type 2 is for dove but the closed all the sections near me except for 1

I have seen six doe and one six pointer so far in the three weekends I have been out. None of the does have been in shooting range. I let the six pointer walk as he would have been close to the minimum 13" spread. He was only 18 yds away. I have mainly been hunting during the morning hours.

Got up real close to a big buck and 5 lady friends at Granger during opening weekend for dove. Granger's bow-only and postcard draw only for deer.

Are you allowed more than 1 buck?

every public place is different. alot of them allow full county bag limits. just double checked with GW and on LBJ you can have your two bucks
hunted this evening, saw 3 does within 40 yards and what looked to be a quick glance a nice tall buck. finally got the camera back out today

I wasn't calling you out or anything, just curious. I hunt Sam Houston National Forest every year (1 buck limit) and I passed on a spike two years ago cause I didn't want to use my buck tag. Been taking does every year with the anterless permit. Good to hear that everyone seems to be seeing alot of deer on public land, can't wait for November 5. I hunt at a spot near a nice sized pond so I'm hoping this year the deer will be concentrated in the area cause of the drought.
