I put a Leupold Rifleman 3x7x33 on my Marlin 30-30. Couldnt have made a better choice for the money.

We ran a vortex viper 2-7x32 but they are discontinued. You could also look at the diamondback scopes, but definitely something in that power range.

I have a Burris FF II on my Marlin 336. Won the scope at a NWTF banquet. Seems to work just fine.

I put an old weaver k4 fixed on mine and love it. As tskin said it's really nice at getting game in the scope quick. Makes it possible to keep on a group of pigs while you cycle the lever and let the lead fly. Shot it open sights for a while. Which, although it makes you feel like John Wayne made it tough to be as accurate. I wouldn't want anything over 4x.

I have a 3-9x40 Nikon Buckmaster on mine, but I usually have it set at 4x when hunting. If I had a chance to do it again, I'd just buy a fixed 4 power. Missed out on a monster buck that I spooked a few years ago in East Tx while I was walking to my stand because I forgot to dial the scope back down after a day at the range. He took off running and by the time I got him in the cross hairs he was amongst trees and I didn't have a clear shot. From that point on, the first thing I do when I get out of truck is to load the rifle, put the safety on, check the scope settings, and head to the stand.

A decent 3x9x40 would be my choice. Something like a Nikon Buckmaster, or Bushnell 3200, or the old Leupold Vari-X-II.
Right now I have a Leupold M8 4x on a 30-30 and its pretty nice but I like varible powers better.

If I had a chance to do it again, I'd just buy a fixed 4 power. 1-4x is a good quick shot scope and would be excellent on a 30-30, or something like a 1.5-8x. That 1x or 1.5x magnification is quite useful to have on situations like yours.

I've got a 4x on mine. Plenty of scope for longest 30.30 (150yds).

I just got a Redfield 2-7x33 for one of my lever actions. It seems to be about the perfect scope. Plus, it's not too expensive.

I'm out on this one.....my 336 is so old it's not even tapped for a scope (not gonna have it done either), but I used to hit what I'm aimed at inside 75 or 100 with the iron sights. Having said that my 35rem is carrying a 3 x 9 cause they were on sale......

I bought a leupold 6x36 for a .35 rem, but I have not bought the gun yet. A good fit for a lever action though.

I had a Pentax 4x12x40 on my marlin, but just recentlty switched to a Nikon Prostaff 3x9 BDC. Best advise: whatever fits your budget and works for you...

I'm not sure some folks are aware of the 140gmx hornady. I think the 2-7 makes good use of it.

Simmons 4 x 32. Has worked great for me since I bought the gun (actually given to me for Christmas 1981).
