Hey guys. Been hunting the same spot in Ballinger, Texas (right off the Colorado River for 15 years, and never seen it so dry. Both of our ponds are DRY as a bone.
We put 2 water troughs out at each feeding station, hoping to help the critters out.
I haven't ever put game cameras out. Wondering if anyone hunts near there, and is seeing anything note worthy on their cameras. Or, some kind of a report on what folks are seeing in the area.
Thanks guys.....
I have to wear sunglasses into the woods, because the deer would recognize me, an just surrender with their hooves up.

I hunt about 20 miles south of you. The deer are in good health on our place, but we have seen a decline in the antlers this year. Fawn crop seems to have dropped, but that is a blanket statement since we haven't been seeing many doe either.
The area got anywhere from 5-7" of rain last weekend and had a couple of 2" rains before the season that helped a little.

Thanks Txshntr. I take it you're somewhere around Paint Rock? That rain oughta be a good help, wish I'd have thrown out some rye.

I am between Miles and Rowena, we went by our place yesterday on the way back from San Angelo. We had a decent rain, not enough for much run off. Our one tank caught enough water to make it a mud hole. We don't have game cams, so no photos etc.. Did drive the pasture, plenty of fresh tracks so they have been moving since the weekend rain. Hopefully a little sunshine and warm days will bring out some fresh growth for them to graze on.

We were able to get some run off from the rain. Figure with the warmer temps this week we should get a little bit of growth before winter. Some wheat was planted to our North that I think would benefit greatly from the rain we got.

Thanks guys..... Are they still dry? We're just south of Valera, and the rains in August filled our tanks about halfway. The rains this weekend brought them all the way up

Thnx for the update dogcatcher.
Bill, haven't been out there in two weeks. They were BONE dry with huge cracks in the bottom. Hope these good reports make their way to our ponds!!

Could be rain out there this evening.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

I'm between Ballinger and Bronte and got about 3" from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. Before this we had not received any measurable in a long time.

Still wish I'd have thrown out some winter rye.
