I will be in the market for a lab, either around Christmas time but more than likely will be late spring early summer. This will be my 2nd lab, my current yellow lab is getting up there in years and body is breaking down. Tried some dove hunting with her this year and she just can't take it much more. Limping around for 2-3 days afterwards. So I am retiring her and looking to start working with a new pup. I now realize how little I want to try and hunt without her. It is a sad season for me right now, and probably no ducks...
Any recommendations on breeders from you guys, or any of you guys on here plan on having a litter ready to go late May? I am in New Braunfels and want to try and stay fairly close to central texas. I am starting my shopping early, not looking for top of the line champion bloodline but I would like a respectable one from a respectable breeder, if that makes sense or not.

adub, check with Steve Bennet, he's a dentist and his office is on Walnut by the elementary schools. He has chocolates that he breeds every now and then. If you want a pro there are several on this board that I'm sure will post up.
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

I recommend Iron Spike or Wood Creek Kennels
Both raise, train and sell. Great guys to work with. Iron Spike is on the board.

Mike Derry, Coach at Bandera Elem School has some great dogs that he works and shows in competition. I think he may live in Medina. Also, Iven Rathbone and Sue have Homstead Farm and Kennels in Bandera on Kyle Ranch Rd. He raise about 100 or more English Labs yrly. He came from Maryland with his stock, and it is well bred

Congratulations adub, I did the same thing myself and couldn't be happier with the way things have gone with Ironspike, this wait is going to stink though. I wish these pups would hurry up and get here.

I'd put in a rush order, but I think 'half-baked' isn't what you're hoping for... lol. Thanks again.
