I do not have a problem with people that hunt high fence and kill huge deer if thats what they choose to do. The only issue i have is if they put it on a forum where alot of people hunt free ranging deer and do not want to acknowldge that they killed it in a high fence. Pretty degrading to the accomplishment made by someone that kills a huge free ranging buck. Not saying that is the case here at all just stating my opinion. Monster deer for sure and congrats to the hunter i am sure it was awesome to see a deer that big.

I guess it would be the same for a guy that caught a 14 lbs bass in lake Arlington compared to one who caught the same sized fish at Fork. I'm sure there a lot more fish in Fork that are over 10 lbs compared to Arlington. You still have to be at the right spot at the right time. The only difference is that you have a better chance at a 10 lb'er at Fork because more exist.

I don't remember, did they stock Fork with a Florida Strain of bass or were they native? I don't recall

It's a good thing that no one has some stocking program using huge bass (like share a lunker), and breed the bass to release them into an enclosure, say like lake fork.. now if Lake fork were free range, and the fish could come and go as they please, it would be a different story. But it's not like you can't just go to the lake and find them whenever you want.. I mean, where are they going to go? Lake palestine? galveston bay? the atlantic ocean? no. They are trapped. Trapped just like a high fence deer with absolutely nowhere to swim to.

Tye beat me to it, but I had to say it anyway....

Who cares if its a Hf or a Lf. I would hunt Hf anyday. And i would hunt Lf anyday. The dude wanted to have a good time with some good friends stop bashing him for taking a deer of a lifetime. It is his choice of what he wants to do. They even said it took 2.5 days so it was no freebie. So give the dude some slack.

Nice deer man

Let's get one thing out of the way, there's high an low fence hunting, then there's high fence where there isn't that many acres for the deer to roam. 5k acres high fence is alot different than 100 acres high fenced. As much money as a low fence hunter puts out a year, they could shoot a large deer like this every other year.

I know a few high fence places an they can pretty much show you a few pics of different deer give you the age, score, and price. They can tell you where the deer is an what area he will be roaming. They tell there clients that if they don't kill or draw blood there's no payment.

Probably true, same can be said for several low fenced places too. Ever watch "the crush"? They even have the deer named....

Even if they do, is there any difference between that and trail cameras? Shot, they even will send the pics to a cell phone

Big difference they use game cams also. They can pattern then and check the game cans at night. The whole idea is that people are not hunting anymore, there just paying to shot a deer. If I won a hunt I would go in a heartbeat, with the price of leasing being so high it's cheaper buying a buck to shoot rather than hunting my whole life not shooting a buck over 200

What I'm getting at is that deer can be patterned. Low fence or high. Technology really helps the hunters.

Would people really judge if it was a 110" 8 pointer?high fence or low? Are monster bucks(150"+) any easier to kill than a 120" buck? Does antler size make them dumber? This is an open question, not directed to any one in particular.

I'm beginning to think that antler size plays a role in how smart a deer but that no deer left behind program is geared to give them all a good chance to out smart us grin

Can everyone with glaring inferiority complexes just stop commenting on deer pics posted that they deem might be HF?

We've heard it. We understand you're jealous and don't want people to consider it an accomplishment. We don't care.

And by "we", I mean, "people that love seeing these pictures, regardless of whether or not there is a fence".

Sincerely,

cameron00, low-fence hunter
