Girlfriend is now interested in trying out archery. While my plan is to have her shoot several and choose the one that best fits her, what are some of the better bows made for the female shooter? I know of the Hoyt vicxen but what else that is out there? She is about 5'4 120 and I would Guess a 26-27" DL in case anyone has one for sale by chance...

Look at the Diamond Razors Edge. It is a great starter bow and can make a good back up bow if you can shoot under a 29" draw. It is 31" ata, 29#-60# draw weight, and 19"-29" draw. My son has one and I am impressed with its results and it is around $330.

I was looking for a good youth bow. basically the youth bows and the female bows are in the same group. The ones I looked at were the Diamond Razor Edge, Mission Craze, and Bear Apprentice.
I ended up getting the Mission Craze. It is the most expensive of them, but I got it used.

My Wife shot a Martin Jaguar. You may also want to invest in a specific piece of apparel for female shooters. It's like an armguard but it guards something else. Some need it; some don't.
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent.

First bow I ever bought Wendy was a Diamond Razor Edge. Wrong move on my part. Wasnt even close to the quality I wanted out of a bow. I guess they are ok for just having fun shooting but I think there are better options out there. I ended up buying her a used Mathews DXT with 50-60 lb limbs. We have it set on about 54 lbs right now and will probably crank it down another turn before too long. After this she is going to the Hoyt Vixcen or a CRX 32.

Had a similar situation, the Razor edge to me is totally built cheap and the fit and finish is weak. But technology wise its incredible. 30# of draw weight and 10" of draw length is truly impressive. But in order to keep all of that under $300 the fit and finish is nothing like the other Diamond Bows.
Now I bought an older parker sidekick, which actually seemed built well, however the 40-50lb limbs were a bit much so I had to sell it.
I keep kicking around the idea of buying a PSE Bowmadness XS with 30-40lb limbs as it would be a top of the line bow but in a manageble draw weight but didn't know if I really and truly wanted to throw that sort of money down so I haven't yet.

Bear Apprentice, not a bad bow for a female beginner. My wife loves hers. I'm sure one day she'll move up and we'll have this one for the kids.

Thanks for the input. I shoot bowtech and forgot about seeing the heart breaker in their catalog. Anyone know the price?

I just bought one for my boy, and if I remember right we spent around 650 to 750 for it in the R.A.K. package at Cinnamon Creek. Let me tell you my daughter has her Diamond Razors Edge set at around 50lbs at 26", and my 9 yr old boy has the Heart Breaker dialed to about the same with a short DL, and that little Bowtech is screaming fast. I forget what we were seeing on the chrono, but 247 FPS comes to mind. It really moves that little arrow. Both kids can just about drive tacks with their setups, and I have no idea of KE, but from 20 and 30 there is a noticable difference in speed.
