Hello everyone. Where do I start. I have gotten into the Dog breeding buisness and I am doing pretty good. I have proven blood line with the stud that I am using. The problem is he isn't my stud. I have finally talked my wife into getting a stud of out own but it has to be a chocolate she likes what we have going with nothing but chocolate litters. The problem with that it is there is really none available her in Texas for what I am looking for and wanting to spend. So I started to think maybe I can invest that money into training material because I want to get JH titles on both of my females before next summer since I have a guy that is going to help me with this task. So I am asking ya what do you think I should do?
Continue my search for a stud or buy training equipment.

well the titles will add value to your pups and you might be able to make a few contacts through the competitions to get access to a titled stud titles on both sides could be worth the cost of the equipment for future litters.

Now I haven't ever qualified a Labrador as a JH, so I may not know, but I have qualified a couple of pointers as JH's, and started work on SH's before pursuing other goals. While JHers would be a step in the right direction, I would think you ought to set your sights on Sr. Hunter certificates at least, if you want to enhance your kennel name and reputation. Good luck, Gary

So far everyone is thinking work towards Titles and not worry about a stud dog.

Everyone in the world will sell you a lab. I can go to the walmart parking lot and get a lab. I can get any color I want. Like stated above, if you want to make your pups different and worth something, you need them to be proven. You want a waiting line for your pups before they are even born. You don't want to beg people to buy them so that you aren't stuck with them. A title looks like a step in the right direction and it will get you above 70% of the other lab breeders.
