I am setting in a tree next to the Brazos, listening to the wAter trickle by. I am already pretty hot, and the sound of the water made me thirsty. So I reach in my bag, and guess what I left on the truck. scratch

That is why you should always hunt with a Paramedic or Corpsman. We pack such things for just such an emergency.

Back from Afghanistan and looking to catch up on the hunting I missed.

If you were like Bear Grills on Man Vs. Wild you would of just taken off your sock filled it with Brazo's mud and squeezed fresh water into your mouth.....wuss.

To survive for a couple of hours, I have grabbed a few kernels of corn out of the feeder and held them in my cheek until the hunt is over. It will stimulate the saliva glands and stave off thirst for a little while.

If it's a common issue, carry some iodine pills. It would make the Brazos safe to drink, and after you drank water with an iodine pill in it, you'd never forget your water again!

I also seem to recall him drinking urine out of a snake skin!
