Gun shop is telling me that the BLR bolt is a faulty design and is subject to debris jamming up the bolt causing it to not fire??? Anybody out there carrying one of these? I really like the gun.

I guess anything is possible but I have never heard any of my friends that use BLRs complain about such. While I do not have one I know people that have sed them over 30 years and still going strong

Don't trust everything you hear in a gun shop. I was in one today and had the guy hand me a Maxus. As he was handing it over I asked if it was a 3" or a 3 1/2". He looked at the end of the barrel, then proceeded to tell me that it was a 3 but if I removed the choke it would be a 3 1/2. Some people are just idiots, and some are probably getting spiffs for selling specific guns which means they have to move you off of the one you came in for.

Years ago I looked at a OU 12ga Beretta at a KMart in Plano. Was told by the guy behind thee counter they are no good which I didn't believe. Left teh counter, finished the rest of my shopping and went back by the counter and a different person was there. I bought the gun and was told someone tha works there is going to be very dissapointed. they were going to drop the price another $25 the next day and 2 different employees said they were going to buy it then. Oh well too bad for them

It's a Browning. That's all you should've said back to while looking at him like he was the biggest idiot in the world.

Here is the latest from the gunsmith on my BLF:

Joe,
I'd stay away from the BLRs. Bolt actions do a much better job. Your gun is only reliable in the sense that you have a tight chamber and will only be able to shoot certain types of ammo. All other functions are okay.

I have a BLR in 358 Win. It has always been reliable in all condition. I know of SEVERAL more people that rely on them year in and year out without problems. I don't know what the people that are telling you this are talking about.

Are they as smiple as a bolt...no
are they as accurate as a bolt...for the most part no,

The BRL has been around along time..and is a proven design. It has more moving parts so its going to be a little more subject to dirt..ect

My dad used the 308 BLR for years!!! Only reason he sold it was because he kept misplacing the magazine, and its not cheep to replace.

I would love to find a BRL lightweight 7-08.

I think the pluses to the BRL out weight all the negatives 10x1

With most of the models being 40in it makes a great gun to carry and use in tight places.

If you get one I highly recommend a hammer extension

I have one that I waited a long time for. Manufactured this year in .257 Roberts. Special order of course. Shoots like a dream.

My boys are drooling over it.

I have alwayts loved the design with the one exception - the trigger. However, for a saddle gun it does the job flawlessly.
