Now i hear alot of stories about hogs in the summer haveing worms. Now I do not know for sure , but what was told to me that if you hunt pigs in the summer you cannot enjoy the meat because its full of worms and such. Now i have taken pigs in both summer and winter months and have found no evidence to this. Any thoughts gentlemen and ladies???

My grandma told me that back in the day they would eat hog liver. She said that the hogs were free range and that kept them from haveing worms in their liver. She said that when people started penning hogs and raising generation after generation on the same dirt that they started getting worms in their liver. So I started bringing her liver out of the wild hogs I killed.

Just clean them quick and get them on ice, also wear latex gloves.

Another myth. Just like rabbits not being gpod to eat in months that don't end in "R". Any animal is safe to eat anytime of the year.

Taste quality may be different, but safe to eat none the less.

Do not eat if you are pregnant or nursing. Do not consume more than 8 ounces in a 24 hour period. You may want to consult a physician to see if you are healthy enough to eat pig. Seek medical attention if experiencing vomiting, rectal bleeding or an erection lasting more than 6 hours.

If I experience an erection lasting more than 6 hours, I'm calling the wife or a girlfriend! Never mind the Medical Attention.

Just make sure whatever meat is thoroughly cooked. Doesn't mean that it has to be burnt, just brought up to a temp long enough to kill parasites. I picked up a case of trichinosis two years ago on a business trip in South America. Believe me you don't want that...

To be determined

Trichinosis and Tularemia are pretty much your biggest worry but that's not summer only the secret is cook your dang meat, and wear rubber gloves, don't try to be a "manly man" and eat it nearly raw to half cooked that's when you get sick, real sick.
