Depending on when exactly it was made it might be a pretty good gun. I can tell you that the guns I saw them let out of the factory in the last year before they shut down were pretty bad though. Seemed like every one I opened up had some kind of flaws right out of the box.

I have basically the same gun except mines the Ultimate Shadow (or some stupid name like that, it's camo). I bought it when the Cabelas in Buda had their grand opening, maybe 6-8 years ago??? Anyways, pretty good gun except for the trigger which I had a gunsmith take down to about 3lbs. Decent groups if you can keep from flinching! Mine will knock my hat off from the recoil or precussion, kicking bbbiiiizzzzccchhhhhhh!

Guess that answers my question what steps can I take to take away some of the recoil

You won't find any serial # help, believe me I have tried. On a side note, I have a Olin/Winchester 7MM Rem and this is what I got it to do at 125 Yards (6 shots there). They are not all junk. Shoot it and enjoy it.

I had the Ultimate Shadow Stainless in 300 WSM. Mine had the CRF action not the push feed like yours though. No real complaints on the gun or caliber........I just never used it so I sold it.

You could invest in a good muzzle break. But they are loud and will cost you some $$$$$ to have it installed.

Just shoot it.......the recoil aint that bad unless you are skin and bones.

Slip a Limbsaver pad on it if it's that bad to you. I noticed the other day Winchester is branding the slip on Limbsavers at Walmart, $19.97

I'm 6'1", 185 pretty much skin & bones (with a little pot belly) roflmao. If your shooting at deer/critters it's not bad, it's the sighting in that will crush your pride and make you flinch like a sissy!

One more tip! Make sure the scope you put on it has great eye relief!!! Not kidding, don't buy a cheap scope.

Depends on how far you shoot at deer. If you only shoot 100yds sight it at zero, if you shoot 300yds go higher. Personally I like to zero at 100 and I'd rather aim a hair high than try to remember how high I sighted it in.
