Don't go to WalMart, they don't carry them, Higgenbothems is closed, Pate's Hardware don't open till 1:00 and I am not sure they carry them anyway. So where do you go.....the IGA grocery store. Thank goodness someone at Walmart told us this. As soon as you walk into the IGA there is a glass display case on the left with both 6v and 12v feeder batteries. The manager must be a hunter.

I hunt in strawn so going to breckenridge is do able. Thanks for the info!

In a pinch, you can go to any grocery store and buy 2 6v lantern batteries and hook them up in a series. This will work quite well until you get a proper battery later, although you might have to get a little creative in hooking the spade-tipped wires to the batteries' spring terminals. And if the lantern batteries are alkaline, they'll likely last all season.

The true moral here is to always have a spare battery in your truck or camp.

Most small town grocery stores or drug stores have some general hunting supplies. Not cheap but most have a limited supply of basic needs.
