What is your opinion?
I just bought a 3 pack of the Nocturnals and I really like them. I did a little research and read that you cannot enter a deer in P&Y if using them.
I have every intention of shooting a big buck this year(as I do every year) and I want to enter it. I guess I will not use them in Pike County this year.
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

Thats a simple fix. Forget P&Y just shoot a B&C. I don't think they have that rule. LOL

I was told that you can still enter it in P&Y, you will just have an "*" by your name, the * meaning you had/used some sort of light/electronics.

That has never made any sence to me...ever show on outdoor tv they use lighted nocks and each host talks about this is a p&y buck. Oh well I killed my first P&Y buck last year in Kansas and plan on killing my first P&Y buck with traditional gear this year. I use nocturnal nocks and if I shoot a buck that makes the tape great having your name in a book is cool and all but in the end it is the hunt and killing the deer that means the most.

I've never used them because of the weight I don't like in the back of my arrow, but I've had shots I wish I would have had a lighted knock, but that doesn't happen to me enough to get them.

Don't care about P&Y, so not worried about it. I got them to shoot in the backyard at night. Looks like tracer rounds flying through the yard. Need to pick up another pack and get some more arrows.
I can't find one, as it came out after hitting the fence, which I'll let the laws of attraction bring back to me. I've search and just can't find it.

I use Nockturnals and spend a lot of time especially in the summer hunting in low to no light conditions and have found them to be invaluable. Not only have I been able to find all of my arrows, but it has given me positive feedback on my shot placement on several pigs...not to mention they are just cool. As far as effecting accuracy, if they do it isn't significant and I can't tell. I have shot groups with nockturnals, regular nocks, and a mixed group. All presented with more or less the same point of impact and precision. The only issue I have had so far, is one of them is locked in place and no matter what I do I can't get it to turn off. It has been on and burning just as bright as when I shot a coon with it 2 weeks ago...

I really like Tracer nocks...You do have to mount the magnet on your bow close to arrow path, but works great on my bows. Activate arrow then when shot, light comes on solid then after 15 sec it starts blinking which is suppose to last up to 18 hrs. When you retrieve you arrow just pass nock by magnet and turn it off, ready to go again.....No problems with this system so far.

I use Burt Coyote Lumenocks and I am dissatisfied with them to say the least. 50% of the time they do not light up. I use carbon arrows if it makes a diff. all my stuff is new and directions are followed. I'm using a different brand this season. might try the nocturnal.

I bought my some about a month ago, 75% of the time they didn't work. I returned them and bought nocturnals.. They are awesome, and it didn't change the speed of my arrows at all. I've got a buddy who switched to nocturnals now.. Can't beat'em

I had crummy luck with the Tracer nocks. Out of the 3 3-packs I bought, I only got 1 working nock. The rest were pooped out before I ever got to shoot them.
I switched to Nockturnals, and they've worked out pretty well. I'll keep shooting them for a while. The weight difference is negligable (adds about 12gr to the back of my arrow vs a standard nock) and I haven't noticed any significant change in flight path. The reset hole can be filled with some string wax to keep your nock from filling with blood on a passthrough.
I also like the looks of the Firenock. They're crazy expensive, but really well made. They had a great demonstration at the TTHA show, even tossed one in a bowl of water.

Almost another week has passed by and I still can't get the nocturnal to go off, so I did a torture test so to say and found out soaking one in a tub of hot wter for about 5 hours does not impair the function of a nocturnal. They really made a humble claim and understatement by advertising a 20hour battery life!

You have to turn them on as they are sold in the sleep position, I forgot to do that with the last pack I purchased. Had to mount magnet on inside of brace right by rest to turn them on when shot...... http://www.eastonarchery.com/pdf/tracer-Install-instructions.pdf

Nockturnals beat all lighted nocks hands down. They only weigh 8 grains compared to Lumenok and Easton Tracers 21 grains or so. The Lumenok's problem is when you shoot it through high grass it will catch on the tiny little metal prongs hanging out the side and this will puul the nock back and turn them off everytime making them impossible to find and now you lose more money because you have a $10 nock on the arrow. The Nockturnals are fail proof and always go off. I had the same problem as the guy above with Easton Tracer Nocks. Half worked out of the box half didn't. The magnet also sucks. Nockturnals are super easy to turn off with a practice tip and will help you find arrows.

I tried out the Nockturnals this weekend target shooting in the field. They worked flawlessly and helped me find the ones I missed.

I hope the Nocturnals work well. I just bought me a package with my broadheada and can't wait for the opener. Very informative post.
