Do any of you have experience with the Moultrie cameras that are compatible with the Moultrie Management System? I'm sure it is more involved than just setting up the camera. I'm also sure it will end up being costly. Whatever info you can share with your personal experience, will be greatly appreciated.

I recently bought the Moultrie I-45, GPS modem, and two solar panels, and I signed up for the "season pass" service. The initial cost of the equipment was $500(+/-), and the season pass is for 4 months at $45/month.
I bought mine to set up on my hunting place in NW Oklahoma, so I can check my cameras 500 miles from home.

That is the very reason I'm looking at this option. I'm in North TX, my husband is working 14 & 7 in Shreveport. He just got in a 3 gun lease outside of Bandera. 'm kinda excited to get it and try it out. If it turns out to be worth it...I may invest in another.

I will prefice that I have been using Camtrakker brand game cams for nearly 10 years, and many/most of my pictures are frameable quality. My first pictures with the Moultrie are ok but not anywhere near the quality I have become accustom to.

I've got the game spy I45. That's exactly why I got it...300 miles round trip just to check the cameras does not make sense. Make sure you can get AT&T reception there. The 2 solar power panels is a good idea although you don't have to. The combined camera and modem volt draw is 15V. 1 solar panel puts out 12V. You can select low, med or high resolution to be sent to your home computer. Low really isn't that good, high uses a lot of your monthly allotment...so we use medium. The first 2 pics are high resolution day and night. Last pic is med resolution.

Are you using this unit? If so how is it working?

Yes I am familiar with buckeye and moultrie systems but they run pretty high on the monthly when you are getting lots of pics. I hunt in Pecos County and my fear is signal reception also on whatever I get low end or high. Seen a couple of guys post on here in the past that had moultrie for a couple of months only to have break on them. Thanks for the info.

The acorn mms are working good and a lot of people have them in the field already., They do need good signal, 1-2 bar won't work. They work on AT&T and t mobile. T-mobile has a cheap unlimited text plan, 15 per month if I remember right. Acorn cams have been way more reliable than moultries cams. If you try this buy from a good vendor that can help if you have problems with the initial setup. Joe is a good guy: http://www.beebusyoutdoors.com/

I've had a moultrie for 2 years now...no problems. A lot of the issues stem from unfamiliarity with DC current draw and AT&T reception at your lease. If you don't use a solar power system you are going to have issues. With just batteries the modem will last about a month and the camera 2 months. If you can't get a reliable AT&T signal don't buy it. Their game management system also takes getting used to...what plan to buy, frequency of downloads, picture resolution.
