I'm looking for a new scope and I was wondering what you guys thought. I can get the Leupold VXIII 4.5x14x50 or the Ziess conquest for about the same price. Which do you guys think is a better scope?

If you want clarity and field of view the zeiss is the winner hands down. The only problem with zeiss is the eye relief is short so if its going on a hard kicking gun you might have a problem with the scope dotting your eye.

I don't think you will be able to tell a big difference. I bet you could shoot illegaly with both. Both are quality.

I go with Leupold, just because I have never had a problem with them and I trust them.

I've got two Leupolds that will surpass the Ziess's but I don't think you can count on that all the time seems more hit or miss with them, where as Ziess is pretty consistant.

I have several Leupolds, incl a VXIII. Also have that particular Ziess. Both are quality. Leupold US made. However everyone who's ever eye'd the Ziess just loves it.

Go with the Zeiss. Especially for those just before sunset/sunrise, still or almost dark shots. The glass collects so much light and everything is brighter through the scope in low light than with your naked eye.

I have the leupold vx3 in 2.5-8 and the optics are the best I've had, but the turrets are the worst. Holds zero like a champ though and I use it for shots under 300 so Kentucky windage works fine. The turrets are so bad I'm tempted to send it in. But the glass is so good I'm scarred they will send me a new one.
