Does anyone have any experience hog hunting out there? I have a new bow and I am really wanting to kill something. My new tree stand will be here next week or I can sit in the brush and camo up with some blind material.
I went out there yesterday and sat for 3 hours in the evening until LST was over and saw and heard nothing other than a nice deer.
Does anyone know of what areas the hogs frequent? Or, do you have any suggestions?
I did not get drawn for a deer permit thsi year out there so it will be hog hunting only. I have Google Earth'd and am not getting it obviously.
Please help me, and thanks for the input in advance. Feel free to PM me if you do not want your information public. No sweet spots, just general areas.

Hogs have moved closer to the lake on the northside. Didnot see much sign at all off of 377, but off Dunham Rd. there's alot down at the lake.

Thanks. THat is where I was going to go and park when I go out next.
Do you think it is possible to get in thick brush and put some camo fabric around you and kind blind yourself and get one that way or is it useless unless you have a tree stand?
I am really wanting to shoot something with this new bow.
Plus, what do you do with a hog this time of year? leave it lay? It owuldnt be good due to the meat being hot and spoil right?

How far in would you suggest going from that parking lot?
Also, is it even possible to shoot a pic from sitting in thick brush and covering up good? Or am I wasting my time?

I have been out there twice and have seen or heard nothing. Not even down by the lake. I have heard they are thick out there but who knows.
One of these days I will get something I hope. Since I did not get drawn for a deer permit I will have to shoot hogs all winter. Hope we get some rain and maybe be able to shoot some ducks too since I got a permit for that.

I am just amazed at how many permits they do give out related to how difficult the duck hunting has become with required distances from bank, boundaries and poor access. All I can figure is a lot of guys who go for the deer/hog permits just say on the other permits "just give me all you got since I am here anyway".

The good thing is that the horse riders and trail walkers are going to be safe.
Heck, it is just a mess the way it is.
Maybe between now and November 5 we will get a BUNCH of rain and fill the lake back up.
Going to Canada in 2 week sso I will get plenty of hunting in.
Some of the things the hunting manager told me over the phone were pretty interesting. I might go there and sit down wth him and review what he said over the phone with me.

There's some fine deer in that area. Gotta hunt hard, but some wall hangers.
