I am moving to Texas in November.I had a few questions and after reading posts and comments on the site all day I felt that the members on this site have a lot of experience and knowledge on hunting hogs. I am moving from California but was raised in Oregon so I have some hunting experience with deer and elk.
Question 1: I have been looking up hunting laws and haven't been able to find out anything about hog tags or weapon requirements. What are the Hog hunting requirements?
Question 2: I was looking into rifles and I felt that the marlin 336 30-30 would be a reasonable hog starter rifle. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Questions 3: Does anyone know of any descent national forests or wildlife management areas to hunt hogs that are close to Dallas/Fortworth?

Hogs are considered varmit animal. No tags required but you do need a Texas Hunting License.
You can use any weapon you choose.
30-30 will stop a hog easy.
I have lots of areas id be willing to show you but id rather get to know you before i give some of my spots away. Pm me if your interested.

I have been doing some research and got the idea that Richland creek and gus engeling Wild management area would be good areas to hunt hogs. Has anyone ever hunted in these locations?
