New To hog hunting

OP matthewb Green Horn M Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 8	I am moving to Texas in November.I had a few questions and after reading posts and comments on the site all day I felt that the members on this site have a lot of experience and knowledge on hunting hogs. I am moving from California but was raised in Oregon so I have some hunting experience with deer and elk. Question 1: I have been looking up hunting laws and haven't been able to find out anything about hog tags or weapon requirements. What are the Hog hunting requirements? Question 2: I was looking into rifles and I felt that the marlin 336 30-30 would be a reasonable hog starter rifle. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Questions 3: Does anyone know of any descent national forests or wildlife management areas to hunt hogs that are close to Dallas/Fortworth?

You can use any weapon you choose. 30-30 will stop a hog easy. I have lots of areas id be willing to show you but id rather get to know you before i give some of my spots away.
