I work Graveyard shift and have ample time to think about stuff, and one thing i constantly think about is "What would the best outdoors related buisness be?" Just woundering what some others on here think about this subject? If you start to think about it, everything thing that you buy to hunt with, someone somewhere had to make it. So that being said, what industries do yall feel are the "best" money makers?

Right now I would say anything that can get a little hype. Look at Realtree, Mossy Oak, Drury Outdoors, ScentBlocker, Bushnell, Hoyt, PSE, Savage, etc...
They all endorse big name hunters and they have a lot of hype in the hunting community.
I think if a man could design a new hunting line(camo, game calls, etc.) he could do well for himself if he could get a big name to use his product on TV.
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

i hear ya. I mean really, Realtree Energy drinks??? but hey, i bet they sell them and make money. I guess the problem isnt so much the ideas, but the start-up cost to make/design/produce a new product.

Come on now guys. PSE makes a great product, just as Mathews does.
I agree with the money thing. If I win the lottery, yall will know me as I will have something crazy and I will be on tv advertising it! I may even mention THF!!!
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

The thing is startup cost, then manufacturing costs, has to be made in China then if Wal-Mart gets involved they want it at the CHEAPEST possible price,It's a wonder anyone can make any money after all of these things are considered.Lastly, some company in China will rip off your idea and put it on the market(they couldn't care less about patents or intellectual property.Sorry to be a BUZZ KILL.Your best bet is a small niche market,MADE IN USA by gol.

I guess the problem isnt so much the ideas, but the start-up cost to make/design/produce a new product. You have to remeber that up until recently real tree and mossy oak have carried very little over head... They are just collecting royalties... Actually the perfect business plan... Low over head and tremdous profit margins. Now the new outfitter clothing line is breaking their mold will e interesting to see if it expands

only IDIOTS buy C'mere deer, but I guess there are a A LOT of idiots out there.
As far as hunting goes and getting on a truly quality hunt. It really could be compared to a golf course. The land owner who takes care of (puts money into the property) can produce quality game. Just as a grounds keeper who has the resources for upkeep for fairways, tee boxes and greens.
Do you ever watch Bucks of Tecomate? They shoot huge quality bucks and NEVER is a gimmick the reason for the kill.
Got It?

Go get: Think and Grow Rich [Paperback] by Napoleon Hill
Take the lessons from that book, and apply to an Outdoor business related idea.
