Looking for suggestions for optics for my 870 express tactical. I want to use it to hunt hogs with slugs. I found this mount as the receiver is not tapped http://www.amazon.com/UTG-MNT-RM870A-M87...p;pageNumber=3. Looking for advice on scope or red dot. dont want any thing too expensive as this would be a gun to beat up so to say..

would the millet 1-4x 24mm hold up to 12 gauge recoil

It's possible. I have never mounted a 1-4 on a Shotty. For you mount have you considered the Millett Shotgun Saddle mount  Personally I like to use picatinny rails. Evolution or EGW Bases makes a great base.  With some picatinny style rings like TPS TSR Rings

my 870 is receiver is not drilled and tapped or i would use picatinny rails. Does that mount include the rings? And what scope would you suggest shots are only 55 to 60 yards from the stand.

The first is a new item from Millett and I don't have any of them in stock yet to make sure that they come with rings. You could always have it tapped. Personally that's what I would do. Have you the Vortex Viper 2-7x32  I have a THF GROUP BUY going on right now. This reticle would be great for that range.
