Nay. Only time I tried them it spooked the deer. Live deer on food source is the best. Put the live doe in front of you in the rut and the bucks will come. I would try a grunt call or to rattle over a decoy IMO.

Deer decoys in right time are a hoot. Mine's been mounted a number of times. Do not set it up at feed pens, for some reason sometimes it keeps deer away.

My wife must be a cross between a Indian and a bulldog. When she's not on the warpath, she's sitting on her butt growling.

We're burnin daylite.

Boomer- It will keep deer away even if its a doe decoy? Why do you think that is?

The situation I am in is I am taking a first time hunter to our farm up by Clarksville over Thanksgiving the same time the doe managment hunts are allowed. Trying to use every advantage to draw deer in. We will be hunting in box blinds over bahaya fields. Fields are pretty big. Thought maybe a doe decoy out in the middle of the field couldnt hurt. Id like to get a young one stoked about hunting.

It might help in that situation but I would also have a backup plan. If you can or able to I would have a spot or two pre-baited with corn for a few days/weeks to help your odds it the decoy plan is a bust. Just a coffee can of corn dumped around an area will draw deer in just fine.
