Another day another IED found and reduced to nothing thanks to a little C4. Hopefully before long I will be posting about our first Taliban kill but for now we are hunting IEDs and doing pretty darn good.

i just read all 5 pages of this thread.. dont know why i never noticed it till now. all i can say is thank u...and god bless u man. all your boys too. i tried to enlist in the corps about 12yrs ago...they sd i had too many kids and would be a liability for them. i still today feel i should have been over there w you guys..and alot of times wish i was. thank u, and god speed sir.

Another exciting day who woulda thought. So today im in the lead truck and I spot a wire coming from a corn field into the road. I spot disturbed earth and call it up as I drive around it to pull far side security BOOM Taliban realized I found it and detonated it about 10 feet to the right of me. It was big atleast 100 pounder but all it did was give me a headache and no damage to the truck. So far ive found 4 IEDs and been hit once so I think im winning at this point Mr. Taliban.

Damn bud, thats to close,be careful. any scrapnal in those are just the container its enclosed in? What is the efective range of debris on a 100 pounder. Watch ur arsh. And i still await that post of Mr Talibans demize.


PS burn them corn fields, make out of them.

There usually is no shrapnel unless its meant for dismounted troops then they fill the containers with bolts and whatnot. 100 LBs can go off next to a truck and do nothing to it but if it hits it truck will have quite a bit of damage. I got hit by 100 LBs a while back and it sent pieces flying almost 250 yards.

Things have slowed a little last week or so but we have still found a few more IEDs and taken some more small arms fire. Hopefully it starts cooling down a little.

By the way this is the terrain we hunt in. Its no wonder we dont shoot much and if we do we prob will never know.

Well the Ghost's we call the Taliban struck again messed one of our trucks up pretty bad but no serious injuries. I sure wish these cowards would show their faces once in a while. Oh well only 3 months left and ill be home hunting something I can see.

Well not too much going on over the last month or so. Found a few IEDs got shot at a few times. It actually started raining here 3 days ago and its pretty muddy. Glad to see most of Texas got some rain and I can't wait for these next 2 months to fly by so I can come home and kill some animals and cook em up.

Its been quiet the last few weeks but today we found 3 IEDs and destroyed all of them thanks to a little C4. So ready to get back to the states less than 50 days.

So we packed and had a lot of our gear we are sending home inspected by customs today. It sure feels good to be able to have the end of my second deployment in sight.
