For the past 2 months trying and figure out what corn is going to do. Been researching and talking to my feed guys and decided that corn is going higher IMHO. So I bought 3 tons today at $9.50 for a 50lb bag, good clean corn that will be delivered and stored in my container. I'm still going to need probably another ton before hunting season is over. I'm pretty sure from what I've learned I did the right thing but not 100% positive...I just don't see it going down until maybe December, if it does at all. Reckon time will tell..

I have a 2 ton bulk trailer but it's 50 miles to the closest bulk corn dealer, and it's No.2 corn. I use the trailer for protein that I get local. I wanted to do the bulk corn thing,,just hasn't worked out. Don't really use enough feed to justify a bin either.

You can buy bulk clean corn at some feed stores in the bulk tote bags that will hold + or - a ton of corn in them. Pay a deposit on them and get it back when you return it. If you plan to unload them you will need a front end loader on a tractor or either bucket it out into your feeders.

No bulk dealer within 50 miles stx..I've looked at the cost, by the time I spend half a day and fuel, I wouldn't save as much as I thought buying bulk. Only way that works is if I feed a heck of a lot of corn or have a local bulk corn dealer.

Get your local guy to handle it in the totes maybe if he has enough customers buying corn right now. Generally the saving between bag and bulk is the bagging costs. That used to be around $25/ton less for bulk vs. bag.

My guy doesn't have room for bulk corn nor will me carry it. His opinion is that corn prices are to volatile. The no.2 bulk corn I was talking about comes out to $8.20 for 50lbs.

Had a friend just buy some corn and paid $7.25 for clean corn in 50# bags delivered last week. Not sure why it would be so much higher up in northern part of Texas though.

I've tried to beat these guys down as much as I could. Everywhere here it's $10 a bag, only had 1 guy that work with me so I did what I thought I had to do.

Man they don't play fair up in your area. $10/bag is high. Saving some money is a biggy at that price.

I thought about going over there since it's about 20 miles from us. But once you figure time and diesel, might as well pay $10 a bag. We have been feeding feeding the bare minimum. No large amounts of protein this year. It's gotta get better.

Yea, Gorman sells No.2 bulk corn and it figures out to $8.20 for 50#
Hey Hard Water, I'm a long ways from any corn fields. Besides, I don't have a place to store it. I usually go thru 4 tons a year. Going to try real hard to make it on 3. If we can ever get some rain, and I get my 32 acres of wheat planted the first of Oct, I think I might make it.

Even gas and diesel is 20 cents higher than Abilene or Mineral Wells. Problem is, both of those towns are 50 miles away..

Over this next year I will be building a container to haul and store bulk corn, got a deal worked out where I think I might be able to buy corn straight from the farmer out of the field, I hope it works out cause this 7/8 dollar a bag stuff is old.
